As you can read in the The Washington Free Beacon, Mrs. Michelle Obama has taken under her defense nutrition in day cares and institutions for our toddlers. Hooray! At first it may seem restrictive, but in the end they truly should just be making sense. Ultimately, the rules are tightening down on additional sugar and fat in their diets while in the care of others!
What has everyone up-in-arms is that the new rules ban “Frosted Flakes“. Because that is the imposition on our 2 and 3 year olds *sarcasm*. Do you know that Frosted Flakes are one of the highest glycemic foods, causing dramatic spikes and drops in our blood sugar? This can lead to negative health impact and chronic problems. So, your kid will not go to their childcare facility and receive “Lucky Charms“, but they can be served Cereal O’s or Cheerios, which they seem to prefer anyway.
The new rules include a ban on fried foods. No one likes to be banned from something, but is this so bad? To anyone who has had experience with the majority of facilities, you’ve probably been surprise by snack or meal choices if they are provided. We are paying facilities to take good and proper care of our children in place of ourselves. Processed food, high sugar and high or wrong-types of fat diets are not what fuel the little minds whom fuel our lives as mothers.
Bravo, Mrs. Obama for caring enough to take action and enforce it in positive ways!
