Since 1990, the Sun Sentinel Children’s Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund, has granted more than $42 million in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

Since 1990, through the Sun Sentinel Children’s Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund, more than $42 million has been granted to nonprofits serving low-income families in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. All donations are matched at 50% by the McCormick Foundation, so 100% of each donation, plus the match, goes directly to organizations helping low-income children and families reach self-sufficiency.

All donations to the Sun Sentinel Children’s Fund are matched at fifty cents on the dollar by the McCormick Foundation. In addition, the Foundation and the Sun Sentinel pay all administrative costs, so 100 percent of your donation, plus the match, will be granted to local South Florida agencies.

More than $40 million has been granted to South Florida nonprofit agencies through the Sun Sentinel Children’s Fund since its inception in 1991.

The three program areas funded include:
1. Basic Human Needs: Food, clothing, housing and other necessities for children and families
2. Education & Literacy: Mentoring, education, recreation and character development programs for youth
3. Family Support: Services to families in distress, violence prevention, parenting programs, and family counseling
