Broward County Main Library (Downtown)

Downtown Fort Lauderdale

We Love It!

We love seeing our library system taking the initiative to grow and develop children’s programs and in connecting them with their local libraries! The Broward County Main Library, downtown Fort Lauderdale, is the place to be if you have children. Bringing them to the library is an experience that fosters a love of books, reading and language.

Main Branch of Broward County Libraries

Broward County Library is your window to a world of learning, opportunity, education, and more! We invite you to visit our libraries in person or online and explore the wealth of cultural, educational and recreational opportunities that await.

We had the experience of attending a literacy event hosted by The Children’s Services Council of Broward County alongside the Broward County Library system in the reading of “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich” by Julia Sarcone-Roach, which is part of this year’s Jumpstart Read for the Record program. They had songs, interactive demonstrations and a great crowd to finish with the reading of the story book, of which everyone received a copy.

The Downtown Main Library offers wonderful free resources for children: Children’s Storytime, Art, Yoga for Children and Lego Club! Classes do not run on holidays. You can always check the schedule:

Active Learning Center

Broward County Main Library welcomes you to play, learn and discover in the brand, new Active Learning Center located on Floor 2, especially designed to support age-appropriate development and skills for children from birth through age 5 years.  The new children’s wing abounds with wonderful books and many interactive and touch-enabled computer systems.

The ALC is is a free resource and will function as a community center for local families and play an important role in Kindergarten readiness.  All equipment and furniture are infant and toddler-friendly.    Please support our community resources respectfully.
